Mary Roberts Henderson

Mary Roberts Henderson is a public relations and marketing communications consultant experienced in healthcare, medicine, and innovation.

At a strategic level, Mary partners with her clients to understand their business goals and opportunities--and then develops and executes strategic marketing and PR campaigns to achieve those goals. Mary excels at conveying complex subjects in understandable language and crafting on-point messaging and compelling content. At her core, Mary is both a storyteller and a problem solver with an affinity for helping associations, businesses, and entrepreneurs succeed. 


A Foundation in Healthcare

Mary started her career working in the ‘medical mecca of the Midwest,' where she managed community and media relations, employee communications, special events and government affairs for two Cleveland-area hospitals.

She founded MRH Public Relations and continued to promote and create content for healthcare clients including the Midwest Proton Therapy Institute, the American College of Radiology (ACR), the Radiological Society of North America (RSNA) and the Society of Nuclear Medicine and Molecular Imaging (SNMMI).

For the ACR Bulletin and RSNA News, both of which serve radiologists, Mary writes articles on medical imaging, covering both scientific advances and issues affecting the practice of radiology.

Mary researched and wrote content for SNMMI’s award-winning website “Discover Molecular Imaging” and is a major contributor to the award-winning patient education website radiologyinfo.org. She also writes news releases forRSNA and has helped staff the pressroom at the annual RSNA scientific assembly for more than a decade.


Translating Complex Science and Innovation

As a principal writer for the Better World Project of the Association of University Technology Managers (AUTM), Mary honed her ability to simplify and explain complicated scientific topics, crafting more than 30 tech transfer stories in a broad array of industries, from pharma and medicine to horticulture and iPhone apps.

Mary continues to work in the field of science and innovation with Pilot Lite, an internationally recognized firm in the field of venture management. Presentations, speechwriting and website content are among the services she provides to PLG, in addition to support Pilot Lite owned companies including Pulpex and The Simple Root.


For food tech startup 915 Labs, Mary led a multi-year marketing program including brand building, social media management, marketing/sales support and media relations. She continues to provide media relations and web content services to the company, which manufactures food processing systems that produce clean label, natural shelf-stable and refrigerated food products.
